Tonight CNBC had a very cool program with Bill Gates and Warren Buffet both answering questions from Columbia's business school students. Buffet is a Columbia alum from the early 50's and in his book 'The Snowball" gives much of his investing success to the credit of Benjamin Graham, who taught Buffet.
The two answered several questions about current and past events. From an IS side someone asked Gates about the success Steve Jobs has had turning Apple around.
On the Finance side a question to Buffet was why he recently bought an entire train company, his answer being "because I always wanted a train set when I was younger". Part of me wishes I would of bought some stock in Burlington Northern. In his biography, the author talked about the massive collection of trains Buffet had. Buffet once bought enough stock to put him on the board of directors of Coca-Cola and you guessed it, mainly because Cherry Coke is his favorite drink!
Buffet and Gates have been friends for awhile (since the early 90's) and it's cool that both these very wealthy men are doing something philanthropic with their extra income.
