For the past month or so I've been using Google Alerts to keep me updated on all the news coming from the sale of the Pontiac Silverdome. I'm doing this since most newspapers require you to pay a fee after the story is a certain amount of days old. This way a story is sent to my inbox and I can click which links I'd like.
In case your wondering, the dome sold for just over $500,000, only 1% of the original cost it was built for in the 70's. The sale being blocked by a previous bidder who failed to close on the deal a year ago. I guess he decided to help make Michigan more dysfunctional and wait until the auction was over to begin his suit.
The dome was put on a non-reserve auction because Pontiac needs to get the 1.5 million dollar burden off their expenses (that is the cost to keep the roof inflated for a year). Hopefully the deal will come through and the buyer will bring an MLS team to Pontiac!
