Recently a competition was held for a Space elevator and coming up with the 2 million dollar prize was a team from Seattle. Yes this is cool but could be very unsafe but that is not what we should take from this. What they discovered is that they can send a beam of energy without cables, so what that means for us is that places where cords can't be placed can also get energy.
